Petition to the Colgate University Board of Trustees

The undersigned agrees that better transparency, better accountability, and better alumni participation at Colgate University will be fostered by direct alumni election of a meaningful number of members to the Board of Trustees. 

The undersigned hereby asks the Colgate University Board of Trustees to shepherd a change to the corporate bylaws to allow direct alumni elections of a meaningful number of trustees.  Specifics of the nominations process and implementation of free and fair elections for trustees will be determined in a good-faith effort among alumni.

Once the change to the By-Laws is made allowing direct alumni elections for a meaningful number of members to the Board of Trustees, that governing body will be prohibited from changing either an election by alumni, or the composition of the Board, without a vote of the alumni approving such a change.
